George Jacobs, Sr. had come from Germany at the age of 16, met and
married Almira Warren in 1850 at Roxbury, WI. They and their five
small children left Wisc. in May 1863, traveled by oxen and wagon,
driving some cattle and sheep behind the wagon, arrived at Fort Dodge,
IA, where the family remained for two weeks, while George went on to
the West Bend settlement to choose the homestead on which they would
make their home and living. July 31 the entire family arrived on the
homestead, Section 22, West Bend Township. (See entire story under
ALMIRA WARREN). Ref: "History of the Warren-Jacobs Family 900-1969"
